JEFFERY HINDIN, D.D.S.

JEFFREY S. HINDIN, D.D.S.
THE HINDIN CENTER FOR WHOLE HEALTH DENTISTRY
I didn't think it was possible for me to get even more convinced than I already was that development of the jaws was the only way to go in orthodontics, but Jeff Hindin's presentation at The IAFGG Symposium did just that.
Jeff is an incredibly bright man, steeped in the rigors of scientific research while working daily as a wet gloved dentist helping people who are in pain. Jeff's specialty is combining mainstream medical monitoring with dentistry.
As he builds & adjusts appliances for patients he monitors abdominal respiration rate, thoracic respiration rate, EMG, variable heart rate, breathing & more.
He describes himself as: "the guy who gets the people who weren't treated with biobloc". This presentation blew me away. Watch it first.
PRESENTATION: 60 minutes featuring study results, full explanation of techniques and technology used; full multi- media support: video, audio, graphics, etc.
BRIAN PALMER, D.D.S.

BRIAN PALMER, D.D.S.
Dr. Palmer has been studying and evaluating teeth, gums, tongues and throats for 35+ years. His website contains 25+ years of self-funded research in a private dental practice setting. Dr. Palmer spent Friday morning sharing his life long observations with the audience.
Now retired, his goal is to educate others to help prevent many medical and dental problems from developing in the first place. He strongly believes this can be done by addressing basic issues not generally taught in medical or dental schools.
Be warned, this presentation is not for those with a weak stomach. Dr. Palmer is fearless in presenting very specific, and sometimes graphic evidence of the consequences of following “conventional” wisdom when it comes to the early development of habits in children. He has the cases, the pictures, the anthropological evidence and the clinical experience to make a very compelling case for the enormous role that proper facial development plays in long term health....from conception through adulthood.
PRESENTATION: 4 hours featuring research results, lessons learned from fetal dissections, case comparisons, full multi-media support, video, audio, graphics, etc..
YUKIO KITAFUSA, D.D.S., PH.D.

YUKIO KITAFUSA, D.D.S. PH.D
Yukio Kitafusa joined us from Japan to present at The Symposium. In Dr. Kitafusa's homeland there is a cultural bias toward perfectly straight teeth - as there is in many areas.
In his presentation he shares with you the challenges of developing beautiful faces with Biobloc Orthotropics®, then using fixed appliances to give his patients perfectly straight teeth...all the while trying to not damage the face.
Dr. Kitafusa practices Biobloc Orthotropics® because he has seen it change vertical (unfavorable) growth to horizontal (favorable) growth time and again. He also believes that traditional orthodontics is generally retractive in nature and increases vertical growth. Orthotropics® produces beautiful faces. Orthodontics produces straight teeth.
His presentation centers around the concerns he has and compromises he makes to strike a balance between what his patients think they want and what they really want.
PRESENTATION: 30 minutes of case reviews demonstrating the challenges of having one foot in the Orthotropic® camp and the other in the orthodontic camp.
MICHAEL MEW, D.D.S., M.S.D.

MICHAEL MEW, D.D.S. MSD
Dr. Mew's main area of interest is etiology. Specifically, in his presentation, he asks the question: If Orthotropics® is a Method of Treatment - What is The Underlying Problem Being Solved?
Throughout his presentation, he offers several compelling theses around the factors that cause crooked teeth and describes the work he is doing to discover more methods to treat children at a very young age (while their faces are still growing) so they may avoid developmental problems.
The data and evidence that Michael has compiled has led him to believe that children’s faces are not growing to their full potential in most cases. He believes that, in order to address this growing problem, the industry needs to shift away from examining teeth “in a box” and begin taking a broader view of overall facial growth, development and balance. In his opinion, this type of paradigm shift will allow practitioners to address the causes of malocclusion when there is still time to have a meaningful positive impact on patients.
PRESENTATION: 60 minute lecture with full multi-media presentation, cases and research conclusions.
BEN EASTWOOD, D.D.S.

BEN EASTWOOD, D.D.S.
When the faces returning to your practice from the orthodontic wars continually are unbalanced do you just accept it?
This unassuming Northern Albertan discovered a better way when he heard John Mew in 1981 and pursued mastering Biobloc Orthotropics® with the same vengeance Wayne Gretzky chased the puck.
Long dark winters in Alberta provide a great opportunity to play hockey and learn to excel at Biobloc Orthotropics®. Ben Eastwood is accomplished at both!
He’s a wet gloved dentist that felt an obligation to those who trusted him for their dental care to provide the best. As the eminent Dr. Omer Reed says, “If it’s been done it’s probably possible.” and Ben has proven that John Mew’s Tropic Premise and Biobloc Orthotropics® can be a central theme of a general practice. His cases and presentation will leave you stunned. You'll watch him over and over in amazement. The comparison to Gretzky is absolutely appropriate here.
PRESENTATION: 30 minute lecture. Cases front to back. Jaw dropping cases. There was not a person in the room that did not want him to keep going.
ROBERT CORRUCCINI, PH.D.

ROBERT CORRUCCINI, PH.D
Among the sub-disciplines of Biological Anthropology, Dr. Corruccini has published research specifically concerning Human Dental Variation, Biodistance, Epidemiology of Malocclusion, the Evolution of Disease, Morphometrics and Statistics with special reference to concepts of shape, and various aspects of Primate and Hominid Evolution.
Dr. Corruccini’s lecture gives strong support to the hypotheses that maxillary and mandibular changes, malocclusions, teeth that are out of alignment later in life,TMD's and earlier and earlier onset of OSA are a result of the society that we live in and the habits we practice in a modern society.
He presents research that suggests many of the cranial physiological conditions we are seeing in patients today were not present in the thousands of pre-historic skull specimens that he has studied during his storied career. He connects the dots between his research of primitive man and the physiological changes we are seeing in modern man.
PRESENTATION: 60 minute lecture with slide presentation.
BRIAN HOCKEL, D.D.S.

BRIAN HOCKEL, D.D.S.
It didn’t take me long to realize that in order to get the best results I could, I needed a way to undo all of the structural problems (which resulted from bad oral posture) that I was seeing in kids.
It quickly became evident to me that doing that is near impossible with the other techniques that are out there. As a General Dentist, I see both ends. I see the beginning of the story where I can get the kids who really need it into Biobloc [Orthotropics®] early...even by age 4 or 5 in some cases.
On the other hand, unfortunately, I am also seeing the other end of the story in the adult patients that I am treating...TMJ problems, OSA symptoms & and faces that are way out of balance. So, my question to anyone who is considering learning about Biobloc [Orthotropics®] is this:
“Why wait until you have a huge fire to put out for an adult in trouble if you can treat the patients at a young age and really change the outcome of their life? Why would you not help them live longer and use a more kind way of treating them?”
PRESENTATION: 60 minute lecture entitled: Journey of a Biobloc Beginner...Five Years Later. This lecture is exceptionally supported by a stunning multi-media presentation. It's hard not to be inspired by Brian's authenticity & expertise.
THOMAS M. WALSH II, D.D.S.

THOMAS M. WALSH II, D.D.S.
Some in the profession claim there is no relationship between malocclusion, orthodontics, and TMD’s. Tom jokes that some of those same dentists probably still use a mortar and pestle to triturate amalgam before they mull it with their fingers.
His presentation focused on the whole body phenomenon of TMD’s. He lays out in simple terms the delicate relationship of facial growth changes to what we eat and breathe to TMD’s and OSA...subjects that for far too long have seemed complicated. He goes on to make a strong case for the general dental practice to be the center of health care and longevity enhancement through early recognition of factors affecting growth of the face.
He also shows how dentists can make a quantum leap in prevention of TMD’s and OSA by driving a “wellness centered” practice powered by the Biobloc Orthotropics® engine.
PRESENTATION: 60 minute lecture with slide presentation. Tom is relatively new to Biobloc Orthotropics, but has vast experience with TMD's & OSA. He brings a compelling perspective to the "larger" orthodontic debate.
EDMUND LIEM, D.D.S.

EDMUND LIEM, D.D.S.
Edmund named his lecture - What Stories Are Your Clinical Photographs Telling?
That's a question that Dr. Liem asks himself and others all of the time. He doesn’t just believe that a picture is worth a thousand words, he believes that a picture is worth a thousand telltale signs...essential telltale signs that you should not miss when you review your clinical photographs. He discussed the essential role that a thorough review of your clinical photographs plays in your practice.
During his lecture, he was emphatic that most photographs have a story to tell. He will show you how standardizing your photography protocols will allow telltale signs of problems to “jump off the page” at you - problems that you otherwise may have missed. He also spent time during his lecture offering suggestions that will help team members “buy into” the importance of taking and maintaining exceptional clinical records.
PRESENTATION: 60 minute lecture with step by step instructions on how to revamp your clinical photography protocols and profit from the change. Exceptionally well organized and visually stunning multi-media presentation.
YOSHIHIRO TAKAESU, D.D.S., PH.D

YOSHIHIRO TAKAESU, D.D.S., PH.D
Dr. Yoshihiro Takaesu studied the anatomical origins of people native to Japan and found that the facial form of the Japanese can be broadly divided into two types.
One of these types, which arrived from mainland Asia approximately 20,000 years ago, is of a race of people called “Jomon man”. The facial forms of the Ainu people to the north in Hokkaido and those of the inhabitants of the south western islands of Okinawa are typical of Jomon man.
The other type, which arrived from the region around the Korean Peninsula approximately 2,800 years ago, is of a race of people called “Yayoi man”. Dr.Takaesu presented data pertaining to the characteristics of the Japanese from a genetic perspective and broadened the audience's understanding of how Biobloc Orthotropics® can benefit people of all facial types and racial origin.
PRESENTATION: 30 minute lecture with slide presentation. Rich with historical and cultural information on how the Asian features we see in modern Asians came to be.
MYOFUNCTIONAL THERAPY

MYOFUNCTIONAL THERAPY
Myofuntional Therapy can provide tremendous support to many Biobloc Orthotropics® cases.
Having a group of Myofuntional Therapists at the Symposium added a dynamic to the event that was more valuable to the doctors and team members in attendance than we ever imagined. They are an incredibly knowledgeable group and regularly perform "miracles" for patients who present with vexing symptoms and structural conditions.
Barbara and Joy showed the different kinds of therapies they use and how they can be applied to orthodontic treatment protocols. They provided case studies to support their premises. Two of the acknowledged leaders in their field, they are a dynamic team who put on a very lively presentation. They enlightened the audience about what is thought by many to be an under-utilized therapy in the profession.
PRESENTATION: Two 30 minute lectures with slide presentations. Packed with cases and studies to back up the efficacy of their positions. Very thorough, well organized and thoughtfully presented.
WILLIAM M. HANG, D.D.S., M.S.D.

WILLIAM M. HANG, D.D.S., M.S.D.
For Dr. Bill Hang, a luncheon with a dear friend (and best referring dentist) was the turning point. After being asked why he extracted teeth so often and didn’t treat his patients until they had all of their permanent teeth in, he finally decided to see if maybe there was a better way.
The realization that what he had been taught was not the Holy Grail shook him to his core and sent him into a period of self doubt. He began to feel completely alone professionally...he felt like he was the only one questioning the establishment.
And, to make things worse, he knew that almost nobody had embraced the establishment like he had or had stuck to its tenets as closely and zealously as he had. Therefore, he deduced, if traditional orthodontics was creating esthetic and TMJ problems, he was probably one of his generation’s worst offenders.
For a guy who prided himself on doing the right thing and always going the extra mile for his patients, this was one tough pill to swallow. That was 22 years ago. Ever since, Bill has dedicated his life and career to furthering the causes of non-extraction, airway protection, facial balance, OSA & TMD prevention and Biobloc Orthotropics®.
PRESENTATION: 60 minutes with outstanding multi-media support. The wrap up lecture. He got a standing ovation.
